PEP is the parent-teacher organization at Central High.  It stands for Parents, Educators and Pupils.

PEP was organized in 1979 (Prior to then it was a PTA) to support the superb academic tradition at CHS.  We invite and encourage parents to become involved through PEP with their student's high school life.

Meetings are open to all and are typically held at 7:30 pm on the second Monday of most months in the vocal music room 145 at Central.  There will be no December meeting 2002.

Involvement in PEP means that you will know what's going on at school. As you already know, one of the best ways to help your student be successful is to take an active part in his or her daily life.  PEP is a great way to support your child and be involved in the most important thing in his or her life right now---school.

All volunteer assistance is welcome and appreciated, whether you wish to take a major or minor role.  Maybe you just want to come to PEP meetings to become informed, meet other parents, or discover new things about your child and Central High.

If you have questions or would like to help with a specific PEP activity please contact Co-Presidents Wendy and Bernie Monbouquette at 556-8762 or chspeponline@hotmail.com

We raise funds for PEP's operating budget through four main activities:

1.

PEP membership fees
2. Sale of refreshments at Fine Arts events.
3. Sale of special CHS logo items.
4. Sale of the CHS student directory (Available for purchase at the bookstore).

PEP also sponsors an annual scholarship fundraiser.  Funds from that activity are divided three ways to support:

1.   College scholarships for Central students.
2.   Grants for special projects at the school that benefit all students.
3. The CHS Foundation endowment fund.
A committee of CHS faculty selects the scholarship recipients, while a committee of parents and staff select the CHS faculty recipient projects.

We need your expertise and help to complete many of the annual projects PEP undertakes.  Here is a small sampling of PEP projects:

-Sponsors an annual fundraiser to raise scholarship funds for seniors, to add to the CHS Foundation Endowment fund, and to provide grants for special projects to benefit all students at CHS.
-Coordinates a patron program to support the performing arts at Central.
-Plans and hosts the annual Holiday Tea and other appreciation events for the CHS staff.
-Publishes a school directory and helps sell spirit items.
-Host the post-prom party.
-Assists with Purple Feather Day, the National Honor Society Brunch and Senior Recognition Reception.
-Provides refreshments for open houses, parent-teacher conferences, stage performances and freshman orientation.
-Works with Adopt-A-School business partners to foster a win-win relationship.
-In previous years had planned a paint-a-thon day to spruce up Central.
  • Join PEP and be a part of the Central High family.
